Sitting with a few friends we began to reminisce . . . . summer block parties . The first one that I remembered was in Chicago. Both ends of the block were barricaded. It was a very hot and sunny day. Music was loud. Smells from the neighbors' grills covered the entire block. I sat on daddy's top stoop watching people dance in the streets.
